It is known that Africa is a continent full of talent, and we never get tired of reminding it. You can read the special content dedicated to the Culture in Africa.

Any excuse is good when it comes to highlighting this talent and if we are talking about Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards, it is even better! In this edition, which was celebrated the past 17th of March, the children in Africa made clear through their votes, who their favourite personalities were. Today we want to tell you more about these three incredible people in their fields:

Emanuella: Favourite Social Media Star

The Nigerian comedian Emanuella has been the winner of Favourite Social Media Star. Emanuella Samuel (her name) was the favourite in the Comedy group that also included other artists such as Ikorodu Bois, the South African magician Wian Van Den Berg, the dance group Ghetto Kids, the influencer Elsa Maijimbo or even the TV presenter Bonang Matheba.

Everything changed for Emanuella after a video of her cousin Mark Angel’s Youtube channel “My Real Face”, which became a huge success and went viral. She was trying to get away from a compromising situation in it:

The actress and comedian has had a fascinating career at the early age of 11 and she is also one of the most important personalities between the children’s community, not only in Nigeria and Africa but also at a global level.

Emanuella wanted to express her gratitude for the award with the following words: “I am so happy to be a winner, thank you! To all my fans out there, thank you. To all those who voted for me, I love you so much, this win would not have been possible without you”.

Vanessa Nakate:  Together for Good Africa Award

Everything changed for her when she became aware of the unusually high temperature changes of her country. She protested for months at the gates of the Ugandan parliament, gathering a great amount of followers involving many other young people and starting The Rise Up Climate Movement.

The Ugandan activist born in 1996 was one of the nominees who won the award thanks to the votes of the public.

Inspired by Greta Thunberg, Vanessa Nakate claims that some countries, including her own country, are suffering the worst consequences of climate change, derived from actions such as the use of fossil fuels, one of her main causes, which has led to summints such as COP25 or The World Economic Forum in Davos.
